"Safety first" has priority in 2020: SONOTRONIC without active trade fair participation

In the run-up to the international trade fair for plastics processing Fakuma, which is scheduled to take place in Friedrichshafen from the 13th through the 17th of October, more and more exhibitors are deciding against "active participation" at the trade fair. SONOTRONIC Nagel GmbH will also not participate as usual.

Although Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Minister Presidents of the German Länder at a joint meeting in mid-June extended the ban on major events in Germany until 31st October due to the coronavirus pandemic, trade fairs with more than 500 visitors could again be held in Baden-Württemberg from 1st September 2020 onwards, according to a declaration of intent issued by the Baden-Württemberg government on 23rd June.

Under this arrangement, the Fakuma in Friedrichshafen would be one of the first major trade fairs to be held again since the outbreak of the pandemic. The event organisers are currently working on a feasible safety and hygiene concept in compliance with all protective measures still in effect. Approval from the responsible authorities is expected at the end of July.

In view of the uncertain situation, many well-known exhibitors have already announced that they do not wish to participate in the trade fair in the usual form. SONOTRONIC Nagel GmbH is one of them. "Conscious of our responsibility for the health of our employees and our business partners, we have decided not to use our stand space at Fakuma this year as usual. Even with appropriate hygiene concepts, we cannot guarantee the safety of our employees," says SONOTRONIC Managing Director Ingo Nagel.

"Instead, we would like to encourage our business partners to contact us by phone or e-mail with their questions and their current topics and projects. Our employees look forward to providing our customers with advice and support," continues Ingo Nagel, and adds with a view to the coming year: "We hope to participate as exhibitors at Fakuma next year to the usual extent. Together with the K in Düsseldorf, the Fakuma is one of the most important trade fairs for us".

The trade fairs IZB in Wolfsburg and KUTENO in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, where SONOTRONIC would have also wanted to present itself in addition to the Fakuma in autumn 2020, have already been cancelled. The company will also not participate in PLASTPOL, which is scheduled to take place in Kielce, Poland, from 6 to 9 October this year for security reasons.
